Course Target Market
This course has been designed for participants who are looking to learn about the basics of Scriptwriting for Film and TV. It will involve the fundamentals of screenplay theory and craft, with the development and writing of a short script over the course of three drafts.
Qualification
Participants, on satisfactory completion of the course and any related assignments, will be awarded a Certificate in Scriptwriting for Beginners.
Total Course Time
24 hours tutored training - 3 hours per week for eight weeks. Participants should allow a further 3 hours per week for assignment / revision.
Course Description
On completion of the course, participants will be familiar with the role of the writer in the filmmaking process, screenplay format, the production process, research and development and the core elements of the screenplay itself:
• Narrative/Story
• Characters/Dialogue
• Action/Description/Movement
• Tone/Mood/Texture/Atmosphere
• Setting/Period/Time
Participants will also have a completed short script, with detailed feedback for each draft, tracking the evolution of the script through each stage.
